New Kingdom Hearts 3 Trailer Reveals New Looks, New Heroes, and New Villains
It’s hard to believe that it’s been five years since the first teaser for Kingdom Hearts III was shown at E3, and it’s even harder to believe that it’s been more than 15 years since the first Kingdom Hearts game came out. Fortunately for both nostalgic veterans and excited new fans of the series, Kingdom Hearts III will be coming out this year, and with a new trailer teasing the Monster-fication of Sora, Donald, and Goofy, it looks better than ever.
To promote the game, Square-Enix has released some new screenshots of the game, along with a new trailer. Although the trailer is in Japanese, no one needs words to see how exciting Kingdom Hearts III looks. The new zones are far more interactive than those of the past; in fact, it looks a lot like Square Enix are making sure that each world fully embodies the movie it’s from. The Monsters, Inc world, for example, looks to combine tons of elements from platformers and rail-shooters, and other worlds have crazy mechanics like spinning cups, skyrocketing towers, and hair-swinging damsels. The video also showcases the returns of summons as seen when Sora bring Ariel from the Little Mermaid to battle.
While the iconic trio from the previous games – Sora, Donald, and Goofy (in that order) – will of course be returning, it was announced that some other familiar characters will make appearances as well. This is in addition to the plethora of new worlds and character. Some of those new worlds include Tangled, Toy Story, and Monsters, Inc, and each one of these worlds look stocked full of new villains, weapons, and gadgets.
His key sure looks a lot deadlier than Sora’s.
As usual, Square Enix will be handling the serious side of things with new villains, new stories, and new heroes. While Kingdom Hearts has become fairly long and convoluted – even we can’t keep up with all the story lines of the handheld games – the new one will almost certainly catch fans up. After all, it has been thirteen years since Kingdom Hearts 2, was released, so Kingdom Hearts 3 won’t exactly be a reboot, but it will be a revive for the series
We expect more details as Kingdom Hearts 3 gets closer to its release date – which Square Enix has inconveniently not released just yet.
