Biomutant, Darksiders III and Fade to Silence Will Be DRM-Free on Release

THQ Nordic just can’t seem to stay out of the news this week. Everyday it seems there’s another bit of good press about them to report on. This time it’s the fact that four of their games, This is the Police II, Biomutant, Darksiders III and Fade to Silence, will be launching on GOG as DRM-Free titles on launch day.

The trend of more and more games coming loaded with DRM technology is a hot-button topic in the gaming community. Most gamers appear to be heavily against the practice and see it as unjust and unfair.

As such, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that this move has generated a lot of positive sentiments for both GOG and THQ Nordic. A recent Reddit thread was filled with people praising both companies, saying things like “I already knew I was buying Biomutant but this just cements it even more,” “GOG. Nice well done THQ Nordic! You will have my money :)” and “THQ Nordic… Championing the true way to release games. I was already going to drop money on Darksiders 3, but this settles it.”

After months and months of gamers being angry at publishers for one reason or another, it’s refreshing to see a wave of positive sentiment be thrown at THQ Nordic.

GOG deserves a lot of credit for this move as well. They’re the ones who revealed in a blog post that Darksiders III and other would be coming to their platform DRM-free, emphasizing that all four games would be available on their respective release dates.

This is the Police II, Darksiders III and Fade to Silence are all expected to be released sometime later this year, according to THQ NordicBiomutant is also expected to arrive sometime in 2018, but its release date is officially ‘to be confirmed.’
