Game & DLC Releases

PUBG (Xbox, PC)

PUBG has been in Early Access on the PC since earlier this year, but the game is finally making its console debut with the Xbox One. As big a deal as this is for PUBG, it’s also a pretty big deal for Xbox. The Microsoft console has arguably better hardware than the PS4, but it’s severely lacking in the exclusive content department. The addition of PUBG will help narrow the gap between the two consoles, but remember, PUBG is still in “preview” mode and is sure to have its share of bugs early on.

“From the makers of the best-selling PC phenomenon, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds drops players into a competitive survival battle where you’ll engage in a heart-racing fight to be the last player left alive. Loot supplies, find weapons and gear-up to take on the competition in a solo or team squad match. Emerge the lone survivor in a thrilling game experience full of unexpected, adrenaline-pumping moments.”

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – The Champions’ Ballad (Switch)

Talk about a mouthful, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – The Champions’ Ballad is the second DLC for the Breath of the Wild.

“The Champions’ Ballad (DLC Pack 2) brings a large amount of exciting new content to the game. Here’s what is being added.

Players will tackle a never-before-seen dungeon, defeat enemies using the One-Hit Obliterator, and explore new shrines.

Upon completing these tasks, Link will gain access to a powerful new way to travel: the Master Cycle Zero!

Kass the Bard is on a quest to complete the missing verses of his teacher’s unfinished song. Along the way, his original compositions will shed new light on the four Champions and Princess Zelda herself. Ah, but what could the unfinished song be about?

The End Is Nigh (Switch, PC)

The End Is Nigh is a sprawling adventure platformer where the player takes control over Ash, one of few “things” that have “survived” the “end of the world.” Follow Ash as he flops his way through a future of pain and suffering. Feel his stress levels rise as you throw him into an endless swarm of decaying, mutant animal-like creatures and help aid his final epic quest…to simply make a friend (out of pieces of people he finds along his journey).

Oh, also you collect video game cartridges and tumors! If that does anything for ya.”

Battlefield 1 Turning Tides (Xbox, PC, PS4)

Battlefield 1 Turning Tides is an interesting expansion, in that it’ll be released in two different waves. The first wave was released this week and the second will debut sometime in January. The December expansion, dubbed “Turning Tides Gallipoli,”  features two new maps, a new elite class, six new guns, two new melee weapons and a brand new vehicle. The January update, “North Sea,” has two new maps, two new factions and another new vehicle.

Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy

Watch the video above if you really want to know what this game is all about. And if you want to see PewDiePie have a heart attack trying to beat Getting Over It, you can check out his video here

Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is a punishing climbing game, a homage to Jazzuo’s 2002 B-Game classic ‘Sexy Hiking’. You move the hammer with the mouse, and that’s all there is. With practice, you’ll be able to jump, swing, climb and fly. Great mysteries and a wonderful reward await the master hikers who reach the top of the mountain.”

Patches & Updates

Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris 1.1.1

This patch is all about fixing the plethora of problems that came with the “Curse of Osiris” update. In a recent update the Destiny Dev Team said,

“With Curse of Osiris now live, it’s clear that we’ve made some mistakes with how we have handled content access. We would like to talk through the reasoning behind our decisions so far and what we are committed to changing moving forward.
The Destiny endgame features a variety of activities and playlists that we want to remain relevant to players as they grow more powerful. In Destiny 1, as your character grew more powerful throughout each expansion, some of our best content, like Vault of Glass, was left behind and lost its relevance for players. We wanted a better solution for Destiny 2, where all of our Endgame activities could stay relevant as each Expansion causes your Guardian to grow more and more powerful.”
