Dead Cells Console Release Confirmed
Dead Cells Console Release Confirmed
Time to dust off your platformer skills, Dead Cells is coming to consoles later this year.
The gameplay and art style of this 2D action platformer were heavily influenced by the Castlevania franchise. Progression through the game is nonlinear and players are encouraged to explore and search for secrets. The game features permadeaths and near endless replayability thanks a “RogueVania” style.
Dead Cells was initially released as a PC exclusive on Steam Early Access and GoG early last year. The game garnered positive reviews, with critics praising it for its difficulty and fast-paced combat.
Motion Twin, the developer behind Dead Cells, recently announced on Twitter that the game would be receiving a console release for the Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch later this year. They also confirmed that a finalized PC version of the game would be making its debut at the same time as the official console releases.
While Dead Cells on the PC is an excellent game, the fast-paced combat is certainly better suited for controllers. It will be interesting to see how well the games mechanics adapt to the Switch’s joy-cons in particular.
A precise launch date and console pricing details have yet to be announced. While we wait for that information, Dead Cells is available on Steam Early Access for $19.99 and we can likely expect the console price point to reflect this.
