Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition Coming March 6th 2018

Square Enix announced last year that Final Fantasy XV was the title that gave fresh life to the franchise, and its success is what has kept the series alive. Following reports of sales surpassing 6.5 million, Square Enix committed to a strategy to capitalize on success. This included creating the mobile game FFXV: Pocket Edition, the multi-player expansion Comrades, and cross-overs galore. Now, they will be releasing Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition.

The Royal Edition is a re-release / DLC releasing on March 6th 2018 for $49.99 on PS4 and Xbox One. While Square Enix plans on releasing the DLC with a separate cost as well, they have not yet revealed what that price will be. An erroneous price of $19.99 was listed, but Square Enix clarified that this was a mistake, and the official price has not been settled on.

FFXV Royal Edition will feature new content but is also a complete package of all current releases and DLCs. From the official website, the content will include:

  • An all-new dungeon – Insomnia City Ruins: Expanded Map
  • New features such as first person mode, new gear, and new bosses.
  • Armiger Unleashed – after you collect all 13 royal arms, a more action-oriented mode of the Armiger is unlocked
  • Royal Vessel – the boat from FFXV is now a controllable vehicle. The same body of water (between Cape Caem and Altissia) can now be freely explored.
  • All season pass content – Episode Gladiolus, Episode Prompto, Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades, and Episode Ignis.
  • Over a dozen pieces of DLC, including weapons, Regalia car skins, and item sets.

Square Enix has yet to reveal their final plans for FFXV, but so long as the fans are still invested and buying, content will surely continue to pour out. The Royal Edition looks like a good deal and with a $49.99 price tag for all past content, but we will have to wait until March to know for certain.
