Monster Hunter: World First DLC – The DevilJho

Monster Hunter: World doesn’t release until January 26, but that hasn’t stopped Capcom from developing and announcing the first DLC for the title. In line with previous announcements, the DLC will drop a new boss for players to hunt and battle, with this first DLC reintroducing a regular to the series – the Deviljho.

We have already seen from others trailers for Monster Hunter: World that it will feature nomadic or roaming monsters, some which will even battle one another, adding a new level of tension to a battle. A new monster can either help a fight, or make it much, much worse, and the Deviljho is an old hand at that.

First appearing in Monster Hunter 3, the Deviljho is a nomadic enemy, often wandering a variety of different environments and maps in search for food. Across a number of different games, the Deviljho is known to be found in many environments which can often alter the types of attacks it delivers. It is also one of the few monsters from the series known to attack other monsters, and its habit of hunting down and devouring other beasts is often tied to the strategy to beat it, with players using a variety of meats during battles to appeal to its ravenous nature. The Deviljho has appeared in six Monster Hunter games from the main series, with Monster Hunter: World marking its seventh appearance in a main title and its thirteenth appearance overall.

Including the Deviljho, Monster Hunter: World’s current roster of large monsters stands at 36. This is twice the size of the starting monster list for Monster Hunter 3, which had a mere 18, but nowhere near some titles lists such as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, which boasted an impressive 81 large monsters. However, Capcom announced previously that they would be working to constantly release content for Monster Hunter: World and stated that new monster DLCs would always be free. It’s unclear how many updates Capcom has in the works at this time, but the Deviljho DLC is expected to release in Spring of 2018 following the January release for Monster Hunter: World.
