Game & DLC Releases

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon (3DS)

It’s been over two decades since Pokémon Red and Blue debuted, but the little pocket monsters are still as popular as ever. Only available on the 3DS, the Pokémon franchise of games are doing their part to keep the handheld market afloat.

“Discover the Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala’s new Z-Moves and their mysterious connection to the Legendary Pokémon Necrozma. Then venture into Ultra Wormholes to explore the Ultra Beasts’ home world, encounter every Legendary Pokémon, and uncover Ultra Megalopolis, a dark world where Necrozma has stolen the light. On the bright side, the Alola region has new activities, and fresh landscapes to explore with some assistance from your powered-up Rotom Dex. You’ll need all the help you can get if you’re going to stop Giovanni, Ghetsis, and the rest of Team Rainbow Rocket from taking over the Alola region!”

Star Wars Battlefront II (PS4, PC, Xbox)

Battlefront II has stirred up one of the biggest controversies in recent gaming history and has caused EA’s reputation to plummet even further into the depths of oblivion.

“Heroes are born on the battlefront, and in Star Wars Battlefront 2, you’re able to experience it for yourself. Play as heroes from all three eras of Star Wars in massive battles across iconic locations, and take part in a thrilling single-player story as Iden Versio fights to avenge the Emperor.”

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Switch)

Having debuted and re-debuted for nearly every console in recent memory, Skyrim is finally making its way to the switch. Other than a few pieces of exclusive armor, including some Link-themed threads, it’s the same Skyrim we’ve all come to know over the years.

“Dragons, long lost to the passages of the Elder Scrolls, have returned and the future of Skyrim hangs in the balance. As Dragonborn, the prophesized hero born with the power of The Voice, you are the only one who can stand against them.

Live another life, in another world—from battling ancient dragons, exploring rugged mountains, building a home, or mastering hundreds of weapons, spells and abilities. For the first time ever, go into battle Legend of Zelda style: fight with the Master Sword, guard with the Hylian Shield, while wearing the Champion’s Tunic. The game also includes official add-ons—Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn.”

L.A. Noire (Xbox, PS4, Switch)

A revamped L.A. Noire on one of the current-gen consoles is a great way to tide yourself over until Red Dead Redemption 2 comes out next year.

“A dark and violent crime thriller set against the backdrop of 1940’s Los Angeles.

Amid the post-war boom of Hollywood’s Golden Age, Cole Phelps, an LAPD detective is thrown headfirst into a city drowning in its own success. Corruption is rampant, the drug trade is exploding, and murder rates are at an all-time high. In his fight to climb the ranks and do what’s right, Phelps must unravel the truth behind a string of arson attacks, racketeering conspiracies and brutal murders, battling the L.A. underworld and even members of his own department to uncover a secret that could shake the city to its rotten core.”

Patches & Updates

Fortnite V.1.9 Patch

The latest Fortnite patch has a few big surprises in store for players. First and foremost, the ‘Fortnitemares’ event has been extended until November 29. Second, you can now build in many places you previously couldn’t. Those odd grassy areas where you couldn’t previously build for some unknown reason and shallow lakes will now be prime real estate for aspiring builders.

There’ also the new Launch Pad trap that “flings players high into the air and lets you re-deploy your glider mid-match! Traverse the battlefield in style as you soar over any obstacles in your path and surprise your enemies with an aerial assault.”

Call of Duty: WWII Updates

Call of Duty: WWII has had two sizable patches since its disastrous launch less than two weeks ago. Those patches have made the game closer to bearable, but it’s still frequently frustrating and the servers are still pretty awful. Luckily, the developers are addressing those issues.

Sledgehammer Games says that they’re aware of the communities frustrations and they’re moving as fast as they can to address the issues. The four biggest problems they mention are online connectivity, dedicated servers, game disconnects from server and solo-headquarters. There’s no timetable on when these issues will be resolved, but Sledgehammer says has assured fans that “We won’t rest until we resolve everything we can for the community.”
