Game & DLC Releases

Need for Speed Payback (Xbox, PS4, PC)

EA has had the hype train chugging along mightily for NFS Payback and the games visuals look excellent. Of course, great visuals don’t always translate to a great all around game, especially games as nuanced as racing simulators.

“Set in the underworld of Fortune Valley, you and your crew are reunited by a search for vengeance against The House, a nefarious cartel that rules the city’s casinos, criminals, and cops. In this corrupt gambler’s paradise, the stakes are high and The House always wins. Play a variety of events as Tyler, Mac, and Jess. Earn the respect of the Valley’s underground and compete in the ultimate race to finally take down The House.”

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds (PS4)

The Frozen Wilds has been one of the most anticipated pieces of DLC this year and for good reason. Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the best exclusives for either the Xbox One or PS4 this generation and has one of the most unique atmospheres to date.

“Beyond the northern mountains, the borderlands of the Banuk tribe challenge all who dare enter to survive the extremes. But now this frozen wilderness harbors a new threat, and for Aloy, a new mystery – one she’s determined to solve.”

Sonic Forces (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox)

“In SONIC FORCES, the evil Dr. Eggman has conquered much of the world with help from a powerful and mysterious new villain named Infinite. Now, you must assist Sonic and build an army to reclaim the world as they fight against chaos and destruction.

Defeat enemies with blazing speed as Modern Sonic, catapult past perilous platforms as Classic Sonic, and create your very own Custom Hero Character equipped with a variety of powerful gadgets. Experience fast-paced action with these three unique gameplay styles, explore iconic stages, plus, fight across unique added content with Shadow as a playable character!”

Super Lucky’s Tale (Xbox, PC)

Super Lucky’s Tale is a delightful, playground platformer for all ages that follows Lucky, the ever-optimistic, energetic, and lovable hero, on his quest to find his inner strength and help his sister rescue the Book of Ages from Jinx. Jinx is the scheming and mysterious villain trying to reshape the world, but for what reason?

Along the way, encounter a hilarious supporting cast of friends and adversaries. Lucky must confront the nefarious Kitty Litter, Jinx’s mischievous kids – self-taught villains who might not be getting Jinx’s plans quite right. Lucky meets friends and allies along the way too. He meets misplaced Yetis, Kookie Spookies, a village of farming worms, and other colorful friends inhabiting the Book of Ages.

Are you ready for some football? Was Blitz just to soft of a game for you? Are the Monstars your true dream team?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then Mutant Football League might just be the game for you.

“Mutants and monsters unleash maniacal carnage on the gridiron in THIS action packed, arcade-style football game. Mutant Football League delivers intense online multiplayer action, deep strategy and deadly humor.

Fantastical arenas full of ruthless fans and deadly traps set the stage for mayhem in every contest that allows players to win by highest score or by killing and eradicating their opponents – a feat made easier as teams use their unique “Dirty Tricks” such as “Bribe the Ref” to overturn a call or having a player become “Ginormous” to grow in size and pummel the puny combatants in their path. Whenever a game begins you’ll quickly discover the only predictable element is broken bones.”

Patches & Updates

League of Legends Patch 7.22

It’s that time of year again, time for you to relearn how to play League of Legends. This is the annual preseason patch and it’s bigger than any we’ve seen for years.

For starters, runes and masteries are gone. Or rather, they’ve been combined to make things easier and more streamlined. IP is gone too, it’s now been converted into Blue Essence.

Level caps are gone as well. You can now “progress beyond level 30 and get more satisfying rewards that level up with you.” What’s the new cap you ask? Infinity.

Essentially every champion in the game has been buffed and even the way the game starts has been changed. Time has temporarily been added to the loadout screen and the game start time has been reduced by 10 seconds.

This really is among the biggest League patches we’ve ever seen and in many ways, it changes the game on a fundamental level. Even if you’re just a casual player, you should take the time to read through all of the official patch notes.
