Game Releases

Battle Chasers: Nightwar (PC, Xbox, PS4, Switch)

Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a sort of tribute to the best-selling comic book of the 90s, but even those who’ve never heard of the source material might find some joy in this unique turn-based game.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar is an RPG inspired by the classic console greats, featuring deep dungeon diving, turn-based combat presented in a classic JRPG format, and a rich story driven by exploration of the world.

Forza Motorsport 7 (Xbox, PC)

Forza 7 is finally here and it looks gorgeous. It could have some of the worst game mechanics in the world and it’d still be fun to look at it, especially if you plan on getting your hands on the Xbox One X.

Experience the thrill of motorsport at the limit with the most comprehensive, beautiful and authentic racing game ever made. Enjoy gorgeous graphics at 60fps and native 4K resolution in HDR. Collect and race more than 700 cars, including the largest collection of Ferraris, Porsches, and Lamborghinis ever. Challenge yourself across 30 famous destinations and 200 ribbons, where race conditions change every time you return to the track.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen (PS4, Xbox)

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen isn’t a new game, but it’s new to this generation of consoles. That means you get to play a beautiful game that’s already had all the kinks worked out, without having to worry about paying more for an onslaught of DLC.

Set in a huge open world, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen presents a rewarding action combat experience. Players embark on an epic adventure in a rich, living world with three AI companions, known as Pawns. These partners fight independently, demonstrating prowess and ability that they have developed based on traits learned from each player. PC users can share these Pawns online and reap rewards of treasure, tips and strategy hints for taking down the terrifying enemies. Pawns can also be borrowed when specific skills are needed to complete various challenging quests.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions (3DS)

The game that launched the Mario & Luigi series returns looking better than ever before. In this renewed classic, Mario and Luigi journey to the Beanbean Kingdom with Bowser to restore Princess Peach’s voice. Control Mario and Luigi simultaneously, making use of their unique Bros. Moves to solve puzzles and emerge victorious in action-packed battles. Pay heed to the enemy’s patterns and time your reactions right to land satisfying counterblows. Included in this remake is the Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser mode, which tells the story of the game from the perspective of Bowser’s minions. Recruit characters to grow your own Minion army as you fight to locate your missing leader!

Stardew Valley Makes The Switch

Stardew Valley was last year’s big surprise hit. It’s one of those baffling games where it’s tough to nail down exactly what it is that makes it such a hit. Nonetheless, Stardew is finally making its way to the Switch, marking the first time it will be available on a mobile platform. You can read the developer’s full announcement below.

I’m very happy to see Stardew come to a Nintendo console… I grew up on Nintendo, after all! This will not only be the first time Stardew Valley appears on a Nintendo platform, but also the first time Stardew will be on a portable system.

The Switch version will be priced at $14.99 USD.

I would like to give a big shout out to Sickhead Games, who worked very hard to develop this port. They did a great job, as always, and deserve all the credit! I’d also like to thank my publisher Chucklefish for coordinating everything.

Patches, Updates, and DLC

Fortnite Patch 1.6.4

Fortnite has endured a lot of controversy in the last month or so. Patch 1.6.4 doesn’t resolve any of that, but it does make some nice subtle improvements to the game. “Optimal accuracy” is now achieved by aiming while crouching without movement and some pretty hefty adjustments were made to the Assault Rifle accuracy.

Additionally, the rendering crash issue on Xbox has reportedly been fixed. As has the login queue issue on PS4. You can read the full details of the patch here.

League of Legends Patch 7.19

The last couple LoL patches have been pretty incremental as we’ve worked up to World’s, but now that 7.18 (the patch World’s will be played on) is in the rear-view mirror, some bigger changes are making their way down the pipeline.

Patch 7.19 makes some sizable alterations to a few very popular champions, including Xin Zhao, Caitlyn and Janna. Janna’s changes will likely be the ones affecting the majority of players, as her shields have been cut down considerably. She was nerfed in the original update and has been nerfed twice more in subsequent hotfixes.

Riot also introduced a few changes to champ select with this update. Most notably, position filters (top/mid/jungle/etc.) have replaced role filters.
