5 Games That Need Battle Royale Modes

by | Apr 19, 2018 | News, News Section, Videogames

“We love money, so let’s make all our games have battle royale modes.”

We can’t be certain, but we’re pretty sure that’s a direct quote from at least one executive in the gaming industry.

Let’s face it, battle royales are the way to go right now. They’re relatively easy to make, they’re responsible for all the highest streaming records on Twitch, and they’re cash cows. The opportunities are there and studios everywhere are ready to pounce.

Games like Battlefield and Black Ops 4 are already reported to have battle royale modes in the works and that got us thinking, what games are most in need of a battle royale mode?

Super Mario Battle Royale

Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

If you could somehow combine these games and create a battle royale mode that fit both of them, that’d be incredible. Of course, only someone with a master hand could pull this sort of thing off. You could maybe even implement elements of Kirby Star Allies and other popular games. Throw in some Pokemon for good measure. Then you put all the characters in an arena and let them smash each other. That would be a super game.

Star Wars Battlefront II Battle Royale

Frankly, we’re surprised EA hasn’t already made a Star Wars battle royale. They always jump on any and every opportunity to make a little more money. The sad thing is, a Battlefront II battle royale actually has the potential to be incredible, but you just know EA would find a way to mess it up.

Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy

One of last year’s most frustrating games, Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy would make for an incredible battle royale experience. It’d be like PUBG only without all the weapons and the ability to move at a reasonable pace. Plus, you don’t have to worry about trash-talking the competition because Bennett Foddy will be providing all the insults personally. There would be literally nothing to not love about this game.

Rocket League Battle Royale

Sure, six cars in an arena at once is cool, but what if there were 100 cars in the arena at once. The weapons would just be the various power-ups from Rumble mode and of course, the floor would be lava, so flying would be key. The winner is the team with the most points after everyone from one team is dead. Your welcome, Psyonix.

Pac-Man Battle Royale

Picture this:

50v50. One team are the ghosts, the other are Pac-Man and his descendants. There are a dozen Power Pellets scattered around the map, with additional ones appearing every so often. Just like in regular Pac-Man, the ghosts can only be eaten when a Power Pellet is on, except in battle royale, when a ghost dies, they die for good.
