Final Fantasy XV Gets Four More Spinoffs as Episodes

by | Apr 11, 2018 | News, News Section, Videogames

The last time we saw Final Fantasy XV was when Square Enix announced the Royal Edition of the game featuring new dungeons, new bosses, new game modes, new skins, and the multiplayer version of the game – Comrades. It’s been three months since then, and Square Enix is showing no signs of letting up on the FFXV train, especially if it keeps bringing in the money. Their newest announcement is that they will be releasing four new DLCs in the forms of episodes, all expected to release in January of 2019.

Episode I Ardyn

The first Episode will focus entirely on the antagonist, Ardyn.

The first episode – Episode I: Ardyn – will take a look at the antagonist from the original game, outlining what it was that turned him to evil and how the world around him created the conflict that centered on FFXV.

Episode Side Story: Aranea will focus on the side character Aranea Highwind – who shares a last name as well as dragoon tendencies with her predecessor, Cid Highwind of FF7. Aranea wasn’t a central character in FFXV but served a lasting role in the world. She both battled and assisted Noctis, and she would later become a hero of the people.

Episode II: Lunafreya focuses on the lead heroine and female lead of FFXV, Lunafreya. In addition to being the primary love interest, Lunafreya serves as a hugely pivotal character, one which this episode hopes to flesh out more.

Episode III: Noctis will presumably put the final nail in the coffin of FFXV, with this episode expanding on the final journey and fate of Noctis as he attempts to save the world. It’s possible that in this final episode, the tale will be put to rest, but fans of series thought the same with Final Fantasy 7 many times, and that was before the piles of mobile games, the Dirge of Cerberus, and the movie Advent Children decided that there was still more to be said.

One thing is certain, as long as fans continue to enjoy the world and character of FFXV, Square Enix will continue to make games for it. So buckle in, this one might be around for a while.
