Get ready, it looks like there’s more Dragon Age on the way. Details are still scarce, but earlier this month Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah and BioWare GM Casey Hudson each posted tweets confirming that a new installment of the Dragon Age franchise was in the works.

According to Hudson’s tweet, the new game will be heavily focused on story.

“Reading lots of feedback regarding Dragon Age, and I think you’ll be relieved to see what the team is working on. […] Story & character focused. Too early to talk details, but when we talk about “live” it just means designing a game for continued storytelling after the main story.” 

Dragon Age 4 isn’t the only news coming out of BioWare. It was recently announced that the release date for the developer’s upcoming game, Anthem, had been pushed back from fall 2018 to sometime in 2019. EA, the game’s publisher, claims that this has nothing to do with production problems and that they only pushed the date back to avoid being overshadowed by the upcoming Battlefield title.

The delay could ultimately have an effect on the production of Dragon Age, though neither EA nor BioWare have confirmed this.

With the untimely demise of the Mass Effect franchise, BioWare is surely looking towards Dragon Age to be its shining star once again. Dragon Age Inquisition won Game of the Year award back in 2014 and was heavily lauded by both fans and critics. Dragon Age 4 is already dealing with high expectations and the anticipation will only grow as we learn more.

Both EA and BioWare had a rough 2017 and they each have a lot riding on Anthem and the next Dragon Age game.
