Patriots Will Win the Super Bowl Again, According to Madden 18

The Patriots are the winners of Super Bowl LII, at least according to Madden.

Each year, EA puts its iconic football game to the test and runs a simulation of the Super Bowl. In the 15 years since this tradition started, the game has proven to be admirably accurate, picking the correct winner 10 out of 14 times, with this year’s result still up in the air. And this year, they even released a cool video to go along with their prediction.

The official Madden score came out to be 24-20 in favor of the Patriots, with the game predicting that Tom Brady would take home his fifth Finals MVP trophy as well. It was a back-and-forth battle that almost saw the Patriots choke away a late lead. According to the EA press release, the Eagles forced a late fumble that gave them a chance to win the game.

“Capitalizing on the momentum the Eagles marched upfield, using masterful clock management to put themselves in position to dethrone the Patriots in dramatic fashion. As time expired Foles lofted a desperate pass to Jeffery, hoping the veteran could use his size and physicality to come down with the ball and send the city of Philadelphia into euphoria. However, Patriots defensive back Stefon Gilmore had other plans, and rose as the hero of the moment, knocking the ball away and sealing the Patriots sixth championship.

Of course, the Patriots are used to nail-biting finishes in the Super Bowl. They’ve won two of the last three in truly dramatic fashion and there’s a good chance we’ll see more of the same this Sunday.

Super Bowl LII airs this Sunday, February 4, at 3:30 PST on NBC.
