This Weeks Headlines
Nintendo had yet another Direct event this week and they dropped quite a few bombshells in the process.Doom, Wolfenstein 2 and Skyrim are all making their way to the switch. Of course, we already knew about Skyrim, that news broke long ago, but now the game has an official Release date. Skyrim for the Switch will release on November 17 and it will feature the full game plus the Dragonborn, Dawnguard, and Hearthfire expansions. There’ll also be Zelda-themed armor exclusive to the Switch version of the game.
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus drops for the PS4, PC and Xbox One on October 27, but the newly announced Switch version of the game won’t come out until sometime in 2018. Doom on the other hand, will be arriving this Holiday season, though Nintendo refrained from giving a precise date.
League of Legends has just announced a new system to battle toxicity in Brazil. Camp Yordle will run from September 17 – September 19. It will randomly assign players into two groups and judge them collectively based off the negative reports of the individual members. If a team receives no complaints or only a few, every member receives a loot crate. This is a new turn for Riot which has tried several avenues in the past to encourage good behavior and discourage trolling, including honoring players and the Tribunal, but all of Riot’s previous attempts have met with fairly limited success. Indie Spotlight
Supraball has a lot of similarities to Rocket League. Both started out very small, both use soccer as a baseline, and both are much easier to understand than most esports. Beyond that, though, the games could not be more different.
For instance, in Supraball, if you have the ball – which you can hold using your gravity gun – you can now be hurt, making passing a must master skill. As an aggressive player, I found myself immediately trying to decipher the best ways to sprint towards enemies the moment they were passed a ball and knock them unconscious. It gave Supraball a football element that I found myself loving. I could choose to be a defender, trying to knock out enemies, or I could sprint to the enemy goal, trying to use the small air jumps or putting spin on the ball to make goals.
The pacing takes some getting used to though. As the ball is being shot, it feels incredibly slow due to the field size, but once you are in the face of a defender or attacker, it has all the speed of a normal first-person shooter. It’s hard to transition quickly between these two speeds.
The Coolest Thing on the Internet This Week
Mario’s Nipples
That’s right, the best thing on the internet this week is Mario’s nipples. We’ve always known that he had them, but we finally got a peak at those bad boys this week in a new trailer for Super Mario Odyssey. To be honest, we’re just surprised we saw the plumber’s nipples before we saw his crack *crickets.* The internet’s reaction has been the best part of all this. From poor censor jobs to hilarious photoshops, Mario’s nipples have been put through the ringer this week. Our favorite version of the shirtless Mario can be found below, courtesy of u/PatataSenpai.
