Fast Travel, a Weekly Gaming Recap – March 16th Edition
The Fast Travel weekly gaming recap is your resource for staying caught up on everything going on in the gaming industry. We start by highlighting a few of the week’s biggest news pieces. Then it’s on to a dollop of esports news. Followed by a helping of “The Best Thing on the Internet, This Week.” And finally, we gather up all the week’s headlines and smash them into a TL;DR pie for you to enjoy.
This Weeks Headlines
CD Projekt Red may have moved on from Rivia, but that doesn’t mean that Geralt is going anywhere. Like a retired athlete making the late show rounds, Geralt is still being trumped out for fans to enjoy. We’ll surely see at least peeks of Geralt in Gwent, the Witcher card game that is coming out later this year, and now we know we can look forward to Geralt joining Ivy, Nightmare, and the other regulars for SoulCalibur VI.
So far, Geralt looks remarkably similar to his likeness in Witcher 3. His attacks are fast, flowing, and can easily be comboed into his signs. While he will most certainly be balanced differently to fit into a fighting game roster, he still looks similar enough that veterans of the previous Witcher games will be able to transition into his new style.
Microsoft has a lot of plans for their future in gaming and they’ve indicated that those plans go well beyond the world of consoles. While the company has struggled in the console war against Sony and Nintendo – Sony has narrowly outperformed them and Nintendo has beat them on titles – it doesn’t indicate that Microsoft is giving up. In fact, they’re merely changing tactics.
The company unveiled the new Cloud Gaming division of their company this week. It’s designed as a learning tool, which will include all the cloud gaming products they currently offer, and it’ll be made available exclusively to developers. This is in addition to efforts to create tools and platforms that will work across all gaming devices.

It has been two years since CLG has won an NA LCS split. While they routinely finish close to the front of the pack, they have a tendency to throw away leads and get too hyped for their own progress. This leads to sloppy, aggressive plays that other teams can aggress on. However, we have seen a very different CLG for the past few weekends.
After beating Echo Fox in their first encounter – and giving Fox their first loss of the split – CLG had a rematch with them last weekend and they once again defeated the number one team in an unexpected way.
The Coolest Thing on the Internet, This Week
Wednesday was a hell of a night for Twitch and fans of streaming. Ninja, the overnight sensation who is blowing past records set by Tyler1 and Dr. DisRespect, teamed up with Drake, the rapper, to play hours and hours of Fortnite on Twitch. As if that weren’t enough, JuJu Smith-Schuster also joined them for a time, as did Kylie Jenner’s baby-daddy, rapper Travis Scott.
Needless to say, Twitch blew up. Ninja’s stream broke all kinds of records including most viewers ever for a single stream. DisRespect recently took that record from Tyler1 when he returned to streaming in January, pulling in a measly 388,000 viewers. Ninja’s stream shattered that number with an astonishing 600,000 people tuning in to check out his matches with Drake and the others.
