BlizzCon 2017 has come and gone and Blizzard made sure to pack as much as possible into the two day celebration. One of the biggest reveals came in the opening moments of the convention when CEO Mike Morhaime announced that StarCraft II would become free-to-play starting on November 14th.

That news was just the start as Blizzard went on to showcase a new Overwatch map, the latest World of Warcraft expansion and more. 

The unveiling of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth came shortly after the StarCraft news. The expansion centers around a conflict between the Alliance and the Horde. Alliance players will be set to explore the island nation of Kul Tiras, while Horde players will travel to the islands of Zandalar.

Battle for Azeroth will also institute a level cap bump up to 120 and will feature a legendary new neck piece called the Heart of Azeroth. 

So far, Blizzard has yet to reveal a release date for the new expansion.  

Many of the biggest news pieces to come from BlizzCon 2017 concerned the companies newest game, Overwatch. We were introduced to a brand new character, Moira O’Deorain, a support with a twisted background involving the one and only Reaper. We also got to see a glimpse into the story behind Reinhardt in a brand new short title “Honor and Glory.” 

 The biggest Overwatch news was undoubtedly the reveal of the game’s newest map, Blizzard World. As the name suggests, the map is packed to the brim with all things Blizzard. It looks like just about every property and game the company owns has some how been jammed into the new arena. The map is expected to debut early next year. Until then, you’ll just have to scour the few images Blizzard has revealed to search for all the Easter Eggs lurking beneath the surface.

In other BlizzCon news, Hanzo will be coming to Heroes of the Storm, which is scheduled to get a massive update sometime next year. 

There was the announcement of the next Hearthstone update. “Kobolds and Catacombs” will be coming to the game in December and promises to take the game into the roots of fantasy.
