All Proceeds From New Riot Skin Go to Charity

by | Jun 4, 2018 | Esports section, News, News Section

In a forum post days ago, Riot revealed details of one of their newest skins, Dark Star Cho’Gath. The skin was designed through the Make-A-Wish Foundation with one of their fans. In honor and support of the process, Riot will be giving all proceeds from the skin to charities around the world. It sounds like Riot will be tying donations to regions so that donations will go to local or regional charities.

Like most Dark Star skins, Dark Star Cho’Gath will be a top down rework of the champion. As per the blog post, it will feature all of the following:

New model and textures – Featuring a mesmerizing Dark Void at the center.
New Spell VFX – The force of the Dark Star in each hit.
New SFX – Angry, deep undertones.
New recall animation – Rip open a portal back home to destroy those who dare attack.
Awesome Feast transformations- Color and texture additions upon the 4th and 8th Feast Stack!

This isn’t the first time that Riot has stepped into the charity game either. Last year, Riot announced that the new Championship Ashe skin would be helping three major charities. As they have done in the past, a portion of all Championship skin sales went directly into the 2017 prize pool. However, in addition to that, Riot promised to match contributions to the prize pool with donations to charity. When all was said and done, Riot donated more than $2 million to charities following the event. The proceeds were divided among three charities – BasicNeeds, Learning Equality, and The Raspberry Pi Foundation.

The skin will be available for purchase from July 13 – August 10. After this time, the skin will be retired, with possible plans to make it a hextech exclusive skin available for 10 gemstones.
