PUBG Stumbles on Another Technical Failure

by | May 8, 2018 | News, News Section, Videogames

PUBG’s new event – War Mode – has been taken offline after less than a day. War Mode first premiered in April where it had three 10-man squads face off against one another. The idea was to create an arena of constant fighting, respawning, and battling with teams earning points per kill. This May, PUBG Corp. relaunched the event with ten five-man squads, hoping to up the player count and intensity of the mode. Instead, War Mode brought server instability that made all of PUBG virtually unplayable. This is just a long line in a list of technical mistakes surrounding PUBG, and it only makes it more difficult for the game to compete as a top Battle Royale.

No one can argue with PUBG’s success, but no one can also argue with the amount of technical problems that have plagued the game since its inception. One of the reasons Fortnite has been arguably more successful is the simple fact that it doesn’t have a fraction of the issues that PUBG has.

Only days before PUBG’s relaunch of War Mode, Fortnite introduced Season 4 with a massive event. The event added new locations to the map, new buildings, new skins, and several new features in its Save the World Mode. Despite the large changes, the game continued to run at normal capacity. By comparison, PUBG often rolls out new ideas or initiatives only to bungle them on the technical side. It’s one of the main reasons why nearly half of its 750,000 reviews on Steam are now in the negative. Fans are simply tired of the problems which constantly plague the game.

As the Battle Royale credited with launching the genre into international stardom, PUBG still has a lot of weight to its name. Unfortunately, as other players have entered the arena, the flaws in the game have become somewhat more obvious. Coupled with the fact that the Netherlands is poised to fine and ban the company, if PUBG is hoping to survive, it needs to clean up its act.
