League of Legends Loses Another Streamer – Gross Gore

The popular League of Legends streamer Gross Gore announced on Friday that he would be quitting the game for good. This news comes weeks after one of the most popular LoL streamers in the world – Nightblue3 – announced he would be quitting. Though Gross Gore has quit the game before, he made it clear in his video that this time was for real. However, Nightblue3 said the same thing, and his departure from League of Legends lasted only weeks.

Gross Gore Quits

There are a few major differences between Gross Gore and Nightblue3 that might mean that this time is for real. First of all, the two streamers are very different in tone and temperament. Gross Gore came to fame for his loud, boisterous style, a style that has gotten him in trouble numerous times in the past. Twitch banned him for over a year after he repeatedly violated their code of conduct. Just months after his Twitch ban, Gross Gore was permanently banned from all Riot events after he started a rumor that a Riot shoutcaster – Krepo – was a pedophile. This style is one of the biggest reasons Gross Gore says he is leaving LoL, because people like Tyler1 simply do his shtick better, but also because switching from a massive online gaming environment might keep his career alive for longer.

But he also cites personal grievances with the game. Back in March, we reported that many veteran players were unhappy with the way League of Legends was progressing. Specifically, the game was far slower than it has ever been. Kills are fewer, games take longer, and individual skill is less of a focus in matches. Despite all of this, the game is arguably doing better than ever. But for players like Gross Gore and Nightblue3, who have been playing the game for years, the changes are starting to take their toll.

The biggest reason why Gross Gore might truly be departing League of Legends simply has to do with his viewership numbers. While streamers like Nightblue3 see significant and alarming drops in viewers if they stream anything but LoL, Gross Gore has only seen his numbers rise when switching to IRL streams. With his numbers sometimes four times higher when not streaming League of Legends, it’s likely he will actually be leaving the game for good.
