This Weeks Headlines
The newest installment in the God of War franchise released this week and it’s being lavished with praise from both gamers and critics. It’s safe to say that the new title is a far cry from its predecessors, both in combat and in story, but with eight years between God of War III and this reboot, many fans are wondering what the franchise was all about.
It’s obvious that Twitch is the dominant force in streaming, but the extent of their dominion was recently brought to light in a new study from Newzoo.
The marketing analytics company found that of the nearly 2.5 billion hours spent streaming games in the first quarter of 2018, Twitch accounted for 82 percent. YouTube made up only 18 percent, or 481 million total hours.
According to a recent report, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 might forgo a traditional single-player campaign for a stronger focus on Zombies and multiplayer modes. An anonymous source claims that the lack of a single-player campaign might be a result of Treyarch being unable to finish it before the games release this fall.
How long have we been waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3? It seems like forever, but finally we’re getting close. Earlier this week, we got our first look at the latest addition to the series, minigames. They’re called Classic Kingdom minigames and they look to be inspired by original Disney characters and the old-school LCD games of the 80s.

Despite sentiments from some that League of Legends is losing players or dying, the game is still performing quite while on the esport front. Profits are up, more viewers tuned in to Worlds than ever before, and Riot’s Santa Monica studio sold out every single game of the Spring split, usually weeks in advance of each match.
The Best Thing on the Internet, This Week
It was recently revealed that 2K has a small team working on Bioshock 4 under the codename Parkside. This is certainly huge news, and not just because it has been a whopping five years since the last Bioshock game. Previously, Bioshock games came out every three years, but following Bioshock: Infinite, Irrational Studios was dissolved, Ken Levine – the creative mind behind the series – left, and 2K underwent fairly dramatic changes. So while a new Bioshock is big news, the real question is if it will be up to the reputation of its precursors.
