What To Expect from Kingdom Hearts 3’s New Minigames
How long have we been waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3? It seems like forever, but finally it feels like we’re getting close. Earlier this year, we got a fresh trailer that was full of new characters, new looks, new worlds and more, and now we have our first look at the latest addition to the series, minigames.
They’re called Classic Kingdom minigames and they look to be inspired by original Disney characters and the old-school LCD games of the 80s. The aesthetic has people reminiscing about the Game and Watch games produced by Nintendo in the 80s and early 90s and it’s hard not to see the similarities.
As you can see in the video above, Sora is the only one playing these minigames so far, but there’s no telling how big of a part they’ll play in Kingdom Hearts 3 as a whole. The Barnyard Battle, The Karnival Kid, Giantland and Musical Farmer are the four minigames featured in the trailer, but there’ll reportedly be more than that when the game launches.
The Kingdom Hearts series has always played heavily into nostalgia. Now it’s been twelve years since the last main release and just the idea of another title makes us feel sentimental. There’s still a lot about the Kingdom Hearts 3 story that we don’t know, but in a trailer from earlier this year, we did learn about some of the new worlds and characters the game will feature.
A Monsters Inc. themed world is ready to make its debut alongside new Toy Story, Big Hero 6 and Tangled-inspired worlds. Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Woody, Buzz, Baymax, Sulley, Mike Wazowski and more will be joining the the game as well.
The Kingdom Hearts 3 release date hasn’t officially been confirmed yet, but Target did recently advertise the game as coming out on November 1st. Whether that was a simple placeholder error or a genuine misstep by the company, is yet to be seen. Either way, expect an official Kingdom Hearts 3 release date to be revealed sooner rather than later.
