In their post, Microsoft really harps on the notion that Inside Xbox is all about being more open and transparent for the community. What it appears to do is open up a channel where gamers can be heard by one of the biggest corporations in gaming. In a time when transparency is easier than ever, and yet almost non-existent in gaming and sectors across the world, Microsoft is doing both the easy thing and the right thing.

Communication has always been one of the most obvious barriers to transparency, but that barrier has been eroded away to almost nothing in the past 10-15 years. Now it’s as easy as picking up a camera and blasting out what you’re doing across the web. It’s that simple, but Microsoft gets a lot of credit for being one of the first ones in the gaming industry to actually do it.

According to Tina Summerford, Director of Programming at Xbox,  Inside Xbox is an evolution of community engagement programs from Xbox’s past. “From programs like feedback.xbox.com to the Xbox Insider Program, and the great work the team has done with Gaming For Everyone, we believe strongly in transparency, inclusion, and having an authentic two-way conversation with our fans. We want to hear from you as much as we want you to hear from us,” she says. 

The monthly show is slated to have more than a few hosts, including Major Nelson, Graeme Boyd, Jeff Rubenstein, Alex Hebert, Lydia Ellery, and more. It isn’t yet clear how the show will be formatted, whether there will be a panel of hosts, rotating hosts or something else entirely, but at least we know the personalities will be good if nothing else.

 The first episode of Inside Xbox will debut on March 10th at 12:00PM PST and is packed with top-notch topics. It’s scheduled to feature a “Sea of Thieves special that takes you behind the scenes on Rare’s anticipated new pirate game with interviews, features and breaking news you won’t see anywhere else.” Plus, Xbox is teasing news for PUBG, Far Cry 5, Games with Gold, Game Pass and more.
