Week 7 NA LCS Preview – Will Clutch Keep Rising?

by | Mar 1, 2018 | Esports, Esports section, Videogames, weekly

Last week in League of Legends NA LCS, we saw Cloud9 and Echo Fox both take unexpected losses. This week, both teams should do much better considering the standing of their opponents. That’s why we are looking at the teams in the middle of the pack instead. After TSM’s win against Fox, they might finally have pulled together as a team and be able to start making strides. Meanwhile, Clutch Gaming has been looking fantastic, and if they can keep it up, we can definitely expect to see them in the finals.

Match to Watch: 100 Thieves vs TSM

100 Thieves vs TSM

We aren’t convinced that TSM has what it takes yet, but beating Echo Fox with an aggro draft goes a long way towards convincing us. TSM are still finding their footing, but if Zven and Mithy can perform as well as they did last weekend, then TSM still has a shot to make a crazy comeback. 100 Thieves, on the other hand, started strong and then fell in the rankings as they lost focus and steam. TSM is a great team to test their mettle against, especially because the draft that beat Echo Fox was a hyper aggressive one, and when FlyQuest tried that against 100 Thieves, they were quickly out-drafted and put to rest. It seems unlikely TSM will try that same composition against 100T, but we’ll have to wait and see.

What to expect:
We are expecting to see some solid coordination out of both of these teams. 100 Thieves have done remarkably well for a completely new team, especially in the beginning, but last week saw them with some great synergy. TSM has also had solid synergy recently, especially between Haunzter and Bjergsen. If Ssumday can play as safe as he did last weekend, then he may be able to hold off Hauntzer as well. If we had to guess, Ssumday will perform better in team fights, but that will depend hugely on the champions they get.

Match to Watch: FlyQuest vs Clutch Gaming

FlyQuest vs Clutch Gaming

Ever since Fly joined up with his team, FlyQuest has been playing like an entirely different team. AnDa in particular plays completely differently around Fly’s dominating midlane presence, which is exactly why we want to see what happens when they are paired up against Febiven, who might be the best looking midlaner right now.

What to expect:
LirA and AnDa are both aggressive junglers, with LirA in particular loving to aggressively invade his opponent’s jungle. If AnDa and Fly can keep up their synergy, Febiven might just be in trouble, especially because LirA often plays like a man without a team. We’re also curious to see how Solo performs after his decimation against Licorice last weekend. Sometimes it can be hard to shake off a beating like that, and if Flame and AnDa push him a little too hard, he’s likely to tilt hard.

Player to Watch: Aphromoo

aphromoo na lcs

Aphromoo has always been an amazing support, but with his duties sometimes divided between shot-calling and supporting, he can sometimes slip. Last week, we saw the Aphromoo of old, the one that could go toe-to-toe with the best in the world. We’re hoping to see a resurgence of his play-making, aggressive support style. If 100 Thieves can keep winning, we think there’s a pretty good chance he will ride that high and perform spectacularly.
