The free games for January are great if you’re a PS Plus subscriber, but they’re pretty mediocre for Xbox fans. Sony’s one-two punch of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Batman: The Telltale Series are sure to please a wide range of PlayStation owners, but Microsoft has put up another disappointing month with the likes of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing and Zombi.

With plenty of people likely joining the networks for the first time thanks to the holidays, we were hopeful that January would be a knockout month across the board. It looks like Sony got the memo, but Xbox owners are going to have to slog through another month of thoroughly average titles.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III

In Van Helsing III, the civil war is over in Borgovia, but the future looks grim. Tomb Raider Underworld

Tomb Raider: Underworld for Xbox 360 by Eidos resumes where Tomb Raider: Legend left off. This installment introduces a new, interactive playing environment that gives players a chance to immerse themselves more fully into the game. Players once again take the role of Lara Croft as she explores such wide-ranging places as the Arctic, Mexico, and beneath the Mediterranean Sea.
