Game Releases

Middle-earth: Shadow of War (PC, Xbox, PS4)

Foresight

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is one of the most anticipated games of the fall. It’s the sequel to the highly successful Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and the early reviews are nearly unanimously positive. Shadow of War is building on an already expansive and well-established world. It has an improved nemesis system and the combat system promises to be as good as i the original.

Unfortunately, the game is plagued with microtransactions and loot boxes. Nobody likes loot boxes and microtransactions, but they fit with some games better than others. In games like Destiny, they feel almost tolerable. Shadow of War isn’t like Destiny. It’s a whole different animal and completely the wrong place for loot boxes and microtransactions. Unless you’re a true Tolkien fan, you might be better off waiting for the complete edition that’s sure to come sometime next year.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Ep. 4: Who Needs You (Xbox, PC, PS4)

“Who Needs You” is the fourth episode in the five episode series of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series. For fans of the series, you can expect more of the same from Peter Quill and the gang. If you’re new to the game, the gist of it is “the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of the Guardians has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands.”

Episode five does not have a release date as of yet.

Yono and the Celestial Elephants

If you like your games with an extra helping of adorable, then Yono and the Celestial Elephants is probably for you. The game has some of the aww-worthy graphics we’ve seen in quite sometime and it’s titular character has the ability to throw explosives and give rides to chickens, so it sounds pretty incredible. You can read it’s full description below

Elephants are a mighty protectors of the world, born from the stars once per millennium. This is the age of Elephant Yono. But Yono is still so very young and in a kingdom inhabited by feudal Humans, undead Bonewights and robotic Mekani, it’s not easy to keep one’s trunk out of trouble.

Yono and the Celestial Elephants is a grand adventure, featuring carefully designed puzzles, treasure hunts, a sprinkling combat and a world full of people. Play as a young elephant tasked to save a world he’s never seen before, and explore the rich history of a kingdom where humans, zombies and robots live side by side.

Yono and the Celestial Elephants debuts on the Switch and PC on October 12.
