PUBG Hits Another Milestone With 10 Million Copies Sold

PUBG has taken the gaming world by storm and it hasn’t even left Early Access yet. The game has now sold over 10 million copies, a major milestone for any game, let alone one that is only available on a single platform.

PlayerUnknown’s Battleground as it’s officially known, first launched back on March 23, 2017. Since then, the game has gathered a tremendous following thanks to intense game play and its fiercely competitive nature. The game has been a particular hit on Twitch, where some of the biggest streamers in the industry can be found playing the game around the clock.

The nature of the game also makes for a fairly even field of play, no matter what level of player you are. The best can easily be caught or picked off and the worst can easily find themselves in a lucky situation, adding to the thrill of the game.

PUBG’s 10 million sales mark comes only a week after the game briefly knocked Dota 2 off its Steam pedestal. Dota 2 is perpetually the most concurrently played game on Steam, but PUBG recently and briefly stole the crown when it had a whopping 870,000 concurrent players two weekends ago. That number dipped and Dota 2 retook the top spot, but PUBG’s accolade was no fluke. According to Steam, in the last 48 hours, PUBG’s player count peaked at 962,950.

The game is a smash hit and Microsoft is looking to cash in on that success. It was recently revealed that the company would be the publisher for PUBG when it arrives on consoles later this year. Of course, this means it’ll be an Xbox exclusive. It’s slated to arrive on Xbox Ones sometime later this year.
