Semifinals Preview – CLG vs Immortals, TSM vs Dignitas
Semifinals Preview – CLG vs Immortals, TSM vs Dignitas
We’re one step closer to the Summer Finals. All we’ve got left is TSM and DIG, CLG and IMT, but we’re expecting a good showing. Though CLG’s match with NV was far more even than anyone foresaw, they showed an amazing amount of skill in their final set. DIG also performed amazingly to beat C9, so if TSM is expecting a walk in the park, they should think twice.
Despite TSM standing in the current number one spot, they have had significant issues which could be exploited. Doublelift has slowly readjusted to the team after some on and off games, and Bjergsen found himself in a losing matchup against P1’s Ryu in their last game of the normal season. Theses matches are anything if predetermined.
SEMIFINALS: IMMORTALS VS COUNTER LOGIC GAMING
CLG has got to whip Omargod into fighting shape for this matchup. Xmithie was known for making aggressive – sometimes greedy – plays while on CLG, but IMT have shown a willingness to hurl themselves into his plays and have it payoff huge. Aphromoo also needs to step up his game if he hopes to compete with Olleh – a support that has been drawing huge attention for his playmaking ability.
What to expect: A jungle heavy experience out of IMT. They may not focus on counter-jungling as hard as Lira did – that’s an NV special – but Xmithie is certainly going to have something to prove to his replacement, and he knows his old team well enough to pull it off.
Also, unless CLG undergoes some serious revisions, Bot lane is going to be a landslide for IMT. Hakuho gave Aphromoo a run for his money – a matchup nearly anyone would have agreed CLG should have won – but now they are facing one of the best supports in NA. If victory comes for CLG, we expect to see it from the hard carrying Darshan or the ever monstrous Huhi.
SEMIFINALS: TEAM SOLO MID VS DIGNITAS
The last time DIG and TSM rumbled it was a crushing defeat to TSM. If there is anyone that TSM should currently be afraid of, it is this team. In addition to Bjergsen being off his game as of late, DIG’s Bot lane duo of Altec and Adrian have been making quick work of nearly every other Bot lane to stand in their way. Doublelift is going to have some hard carrying to do if he hopes to fight past them.
What to expect: Whatever kool-aid DIG has been drinking has been working. There is little doubt that their map awareness and reaction time will be as exceptional as it has been this split. DIG has also been making quick work of Barons, either positioning around it to force fights in their favor or taking it quickly to swing the game.
There should be some brutal battles Bot lane as well. Adrian has chimed in with his desire to battle the TSM duo and Doublelift has been the perennial favorite ADC for some time. We aren’t willing to call who will win this day, but we are willing to bet both teams will invest heavy resources in their Bot lane strategy.
