More Details and a New Trailer for Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

With a release date of November 17, fans only have to wait a little while longer to play Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. To quell your thirst for the time being, Nintendo has released a brand new trailer with a few new details hidden inside.

Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will once again take place in the Alola Region, a Polynesian-inspired locale with plenty of new and interesting places for trainers to explore. Just like in the regular editions of Sun and Moon, you’ll once again be able to choose between either Rowlet, Litten or Popplio for your starters, only this time you’ll have to choose a different trainer.

From then on, expect the game to be a little bit darker of a place. Both Ultra editions are rumored to follow a much different story line, with Necrozma playing a big part in it all. It’s unclear how much of the game will be spent exploring past locations, but Nintendo has made it clear that there will be plenty of new characters to interact with.

There’s also a new Z-Power Ring item, an upgrade from the regular Z-Ring we saw in Sun and Moon. There’s no telling exactly what the upgrade will bring, but it’s safe to guess we’ll be seeing even more cool abilities as a result.

The trailer also gives us another quick look at the new Rockruff evolution, Lycanroc Dusk, but there’s something else that really has fans in a frenzy. At around the 15 second mark (pictured above), we get a peek at a slightly familiar looking place and character, not Ryuki, but the man standing behind him. Many fans are claiming that the NPC in the background could be the one and only Lt. Surge from the original Red, Blue, and Yellow games. Some have speculated that this could mean a return to the Kanto region or some new game mode. Or it could just be another new character in some new places, it’s tough to tell.

Either way, we’ll only have to wait a couple more months to find out. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are set for release on the 3DS on November 17.
